Amaretto Sour

Amaretto	1.5 oz
Whiskey*	0.75 oz
Lemon Juice	1 oz
Egg White	0.5 oz

1. Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake without ice or (even better) use an immersion blender to combine and froth.
2. Shake well with cracked ice.
3. Strain over fresh ice in an old fashioned glass
4. Garnish with lemon peel and brandied cherries, if desired.

Notes

• Whiskey: Morgenthaler recommends “cask-proof bourbon”, especially Booker’s. Booker’s, as far as I can tell, is expensive, when you can find it. His alternative recommendations are Old Grand Dad 114 (~$30) and Stagg Jr. (~$150?).
• Original recipe calls for a teaspoon (5mL) of 2:1 simple syrup. I find it plenty sweet without this addition.
